Hello! Welcome to the Darkroom Door and Art Journey Blog Hop!
We are so excited that you are joining us in what will be a very creative and inspirational week ahead! Over the next 5 days, all 23 members of the Darkroom Door and Art Journey design teams have joined together to bring you creative projects using stamps from both of these fabulous companies.
This is the first stop on the blog hop. At the bottom of this post you will see the entire list of artists who will be participating in the blog hop. If you ever lose your way along the hop or need to find which artist is next, please come back here to see the list of blogs and the direct links.
So . . . before I share my project, I'd like to give you a little background information about the history and friendship between Darkroom Door & Art Journey. When I first opened Darkroom Door and released our first series of stamps back in 2008, we soon heard from Louise, the owner of Art Journey in the Netherlands. Louise wanted to stock our stamps in her Art Journey store in Sleen, Netherlands. Over the next couple of years Louise and I formed a strong friendship and in 2010 I visited her store and taught some workshops at her Art Journey retreat. It was a fantastic experience and I loved meeting all of the Art Journey team, along with students from all over Europe!
I also fell in love with Art Journey stamps! They are sold as unmounted red rubber, fabulous quality with amazing detailed designs... just what I love!!
In 2012, we had the pleasure of welcoming Louise (owner of Art Journey) and Jeanette (from the Art Journey Design team) to stay with us here in Australia. We had a wonderful time together again and enjoyed geocaching, feeding pelicans and showing them the amazing beaches here near the Darkroom Door headquarters! This photo is Jeanette (left), Louise (middle) and myself (right) in the Darkroom Door warehouse.
One of the things I love about working in this industry is the friendships that are created and I really love the rapport we have between the Darkroom Door and Art Journey teams. So it just made sense to bring us all together for one big blog hop! Louise and I traded stamps for our design teams and all the artists have been busy behind the scenes creating amazing projects to share with you!
Enough talking, let's get to the projects! I received the 'Nature Flowers' Art Journey stamps and instantly I knew I wanted to try them out with the brushless watercolour technique.
Instructions:
1. Colour the flower stamp using orange shades of watercolour markers. I used Brilliant Yellow and Butterscotch Marvy Le Plume pens, and Jungle Green for the stem.
2. Lightly mist the stamp using a water mister. Stamp the image onto watercolour cardstock. Without re-inking the stamp, stamp it again to the right of the first image to give a lighter impression.
3. Trim watercolour cardstock to 11cm x 7.5cm. Sponge Peeled Paint Distress Ink around the edges of the cardstock.
4. Using the Jungle Green Marvy Le Plume pen, ink up the quote 'Enjoy Every Moment' and stamp onto beige cardstock. Trim each word out separately and ink around the edges by tapping the edge of the cardstock directly onto the inkpad. Adhere to the stamped image using 3D foam adhesive.
5. Wrap beige embroidery floss around the bottom of the stamped panel a few times, then tie in a bow at the front.
6. Tear some corrugated cardstock to be slightly larger than the stamped panel. Sponge with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. Slight sponge over some Orange and Lava Green Inka Gold to give a shiny look to the corrugated card. Adhere stamped panel to the top of the corrugated card.
7. Spray some Mandarin Perfect Pearls Mist onto a folded black card. Adhere entire stamped panel to the front to complete!
I've also created a matching ATC using the same stamp set.
Instructions:
1. Colour the flower stamp using purple shades of watercolour markers. I used Scarlet and Pale Violet Marvy Le Plume pens, and Jungle Green for the stem.
2. Lightly mist the stamp using a water mister. Stamp the image onto watercolour cardstock. Without re-inking the stamp, stamp it again to the right of the first image to give a lighter impression.
3. Trim watercolour cardstock to 7cm x 5cm. Sponge Peeled Paint Distress Ink around the edges of the cardstock.
4. Using the Jungle Green Marvy Le Plume pen, ink up the quote 'See the flowers smiling' and stamp onto beige cardstock. Trim each word out separately and ink around the edges by tapping the edge of the cardstock directly onto the inkpad. Adhere to the stamped image using 3D foam adhesive.
5. Tear some corrugated cardstock to be slightly larger than the stamped panel. Sponge with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. Adhere stamped panel to the top, adding a hing clip for added decoration.
6. Adhere entire stamped panel to a black ATC to complete!
